Addressing this online event, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal asked the startup units to come up with more suggestions to ease the regulatory burden. He said that with this the story of startup will be taken forward. Goyal said, "I have come to know that in 2021 there have been more than 1,000 deals in the startup sector and in the first nine months, there has been an investment of $ 23 billion in this sector." Can be a guide for startup units. "We should focus on setting up 'Startup Outreach Centres' in different districts."
India has now become the third largest country in the world in terms of unicorns. This information has been shared in a report by Orios Venture Partners. Orios Venture Partners said in a report released on Thursday that in the year 2021, 46 startups in India with a valuation of over one billion dollars were successful in achieving unicorn status. With this, the total number of unicorns present in India more than doubled to 90.
Startups that have become unicorns in the past year include ShareChat, Cred, Meesho, Nazara, Moglix, MPL, Grofers (now Blinkit), Upgrade, Mamaearth, GlobalBiz, Acko and Spinny. According to the report, India has become the third largest unicorn presence country after the US and China with the number of unicorns 90. There are 487 unicorns in America and 301 in China and India has now overtaken Britain (39). At the same time, India has become the third largest startup ecosystem country with a number of around 60,000 startups. The report says that these startups are not only bringing innovative solutions and technology but are also creating jobs on a large scale. In today's time, every 13th unicorn of the world has started in India.
